ENERGY SCOPE

Know where your energy goes.

Most businesses know their energy costs are too high, but not why. Our audits cut through the complexity, showing you exactly where energy is being wasted, what it’s costing you, and what to do about it.

THE PROBLEM

Energy bills going up? You’re not alone.

Rising costs, aging equipment, and complex tariff structures make it hard to know where to start. An energy audit gives you the clarity to act, not guess.

  • Costs keep climbing – You’re spending more every year but don’t have visibility on what’s driving it. It could be rates, demand, equipment, or all three.
  • No clear priorities – You’ve been told to “look at solar” or “upgrade lighting” but have no way to compare options or know where the biggest gains are.
  • Decisions without data – Stakeholders need a business case before approving capital expenditure, but without an audit, the numbers are just estimates.
  • No one in your corner – Equipment vendors have an agenda. You need independent advice that’s grounded in how your site actually operates, not a sales pitch.

AUDIT TYPES

The right level of detail for your situation.

All audits conducted in accordance with AS/NZS 3598:2014 (Parts 1 & 2).

Type 1:
Overview Audit

A practical starting point. We review your billing data, visit the site, and identify low-cost and no-cost opportunities, typically with payback periods under two years. Ideal for sites that haven’t been audited before, or as a scoping exercise to prioritise where deeper investigation is worthwhile.

Best for: First-time audits, smaller sites, or scoping before a larger investment. Typically one day onsite, one to two days analysis.

Type 2:
Detailed Audit

A thorough review of your equipment, systems, and operating patterns with a full end-use breakdown. We quantify savings, build up implementation costs, and rank opportunities using agreed financial criteria. This gives you the detail needed to justify operational or medium-scale capital investment.

Best for: Mid-to-large sites ready to invest in efficiency improvements with a clear business case. Typically one to five days onsite, up to a week for analysis.

Type 3:
Subsystem Audit

A focused, in-depth audit of a specific system or process such as HVAC, compressed air, lighting, or refrigeration. This involves onsite measurement and monitoring over a period long enough to capture varying operating conditions, delivering a higher level of accuracy on both savings and costs.

Best for: Building the business case for significant capital investment in a specific system. Timeframes vary depending on the subsystem and monitoring period required.

HOW IT WORKS

From first conversation to clear action plan.

Every audit follows a structured process designed to give you clarity, not just a report that sits on a shelf.

Scoping

We discuss your site, your goals, and your budget to determine the right audit type and scope.

Data & Site Review

We analyse your billing data and usage patterns, then conduct a thorough onsite assessment of equipment, systems, and operations.

Analysis & Modelling

We quantify energy use by end-use area, model savings opportunities, and build up costs to rank recommendations by impact and payback.

Report & Recommendations

You receive a clear, prioritised report with costed recommendations and a practical implementation roadmap. Not just a list of ideas.

FAQS

Common questions about energy audits.

If your question isn’t covered here, get in touch. We’re happy to talk it through.

What is an energy audit?2026-03-19T17:35:01+10:00

An energy audit is a structured assessment of how your site uses energy across equipment, systems, and operations. It identifies where energy is being wasted, quantifies the cost of that waste, and provides prioritised recommendations for improvement. Our audits are conducted in accordance with the Australian and New Zealand Standard AS/NZS 3598:2014.

What’s the difference between a Type 1, 2, and 3 audit?2026-03-19T17:34:36+10:00

A Type 1 is a high-level overview, best for first-time audits or scoping. A Type 2 is a comprehensive site-wide analysis with detailed financial modelling, suitable for justifying medium-scale investment. A Type 3 is a deep dive into a specific subsystem (like HVAC or compressed air) with onsite monitoring for maximum accuracy. We’ll help you determine which type fits your situation during scoping.

How long does an energy audit take?2026-03-19T17:34:15+10:00

It depends on the audit type and the complexity of your site. A Type 1 overview typically involves one day onsite and one to two days of analysis. A Type 2 detailed audit requires one to five days onsite depending on the size and scope, plus up to a week for data analysis and reporting. A Type 3 subsystem audit varies depending on the system being assessed and the monitoring period required. We’ll confirm timeframes during scoping.

What kind of businesses benefit most from an audit?2026-03-19T17:33:39+10:00

If energy is a significant operational cost for your business, then an energy audit will provide great benefit. We work primarily with commercial, industrial, strata, embedded network, aged care, agricultural, and hospitality operations. Sites where usage is complex enough that efficiency gains aren’t obvious without a structured assessment.

Will the audit tell me exactly how much I’ll save?2026-03-19T17:33:14+10:00

The audit provides estimated savings based on your actual usage data and site conditions, not generic benchmarks. The accuracy depends on the audit type: a Type 1 uses rules of thumb and indicative figures, while a Type 2 or 3 provides more detailed cost-benefit analysis. In all cases, you’ll receive enough information to make informed decisions about where to invest.

Do I need to prepare anything before the audit?2026-03-19T17:32:46+10:00

We’ll need access to at least 12 months of energy billing data and safe access to the site for the onsite assessment. Beyond that, it helps to have any existing equipment schedules, BMS data, or maintenance records available. We’ll guide you through what’s needed during scoping. The less legwork for you, the better.

What happens after the audit?2026-03-19T17:32:17+10:00

You’ll receive a clear report with prioritised, costed recommendations and a practical roadmap. From there, we can support implementation through our other services, whether that’s procurement support for a better energy contract, infrastructure advisory for solar or EV charging, or ongoing energy support to keep tracking your performance over time.
